It's hard not to turn on the TV, hear a pod cast or read in the newspaper about the environment and the impact of global warming on our planet. One online betting site is even taking bets on whether Manhattan will be underwater by the end of 2011, with the current odds at 100:1. Sound crazy? Maybe a little exaggerated? Maybe, but the evidence is mounting, and there are things you and I can do to slow down and even reverse some of the effects of global warming as well as manage our natural resources.

First, let me say that we are not experts at the environment nor is this the perfect environmental policy. The point is, we are going to adopt a policy that is attainable and not set goals that we are unable to achieve or where they impact our customers in terms of quality of workmanship, delivery or cost. It is our goal to be an environmentally responsible business that adopts best practices regarding reducing, reusing and recycling.

BASIC GREEN: GETTING STARTED

  • The Basic Touch will use shipping boxes that may have been used once, twice, maybe even three times before. We will insure they are clean and that they are not damaged in any way that would impact your products delivery to you. Keep in mind that some of these boxes may have writing or graphics on them, but as always our shipping will be discreet. Recycled shipping boxes may not always be available, so we will continue to use new shipping boxes when needed.
  • The Basic Touch will re-use packing materials that come from our distributors and manufacturers when available.
  • The Basic Touch will use recycled paper to print on (i.e.: your packing slips and invoices).
  • The Basic Touch will conserve energy where possible.

BASIC GREEN: GOING FORWARD

The Basic Touch will continually examine ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. We hope that by utilizing some of the initiatives above, we can reduce our expenses, remain competitive and in the end, pass any savings on to our customers. In closing, these are small steps toward our overall goal and an even bigger problem, but even the most BASIC ideas are a step in the right direction for all of us and our world. We would appreciate your feedback and any suggestions on our environmental policy or share your recycling ideas with us at info@thebasictouch.com.
